Massachusetts law requires that every town and city have a qualified tree warden, either elected or appointed. The tree warden mandate is found in Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 41, Section 1 and Section 106. Most municipalities comply with this law, and we strive to maintain a list of current tree wardens.

The Massachusetts Tree Wardens’ and Foresters’ Association is a private, non-profit membership organization, and we encourage all tree wardens to join the MTWFA and take advantage of our educational and networking opportunities.
